United States' call for a UNSC meeting regarding China's plan for new security legislation in Hong Kong has been blocked by China.
China blocked US efforts to hold a UNSC meeting on the Beijing government's proposed National Security in Hong Kong. Russia and China used veto power against the U.S call. And China has undermined the months-long Hong Kong protest campaign to protect its autonomy.
On Wednesday, the U.S mission said, “This is a matter of urgent global concern that implicates international peace and security, and warrants the immediate attention of the UN Security Council,”.
The national security on Hong Kong will alter the territory's mini-constitution, or basic law, to require its government to enforce measures to be decided later by Chinese leaders.
China says the legislation will be aimed at tackling secession, subversion, terrorism, and foreign interference.
Russia has supported China's move, saying that taking up internal matters of countries could open up a 'Pandora's box'.
The U.S no longer believes Hong Kong autonomous the U.S Secretary Mike Pompeo in his tweet said that I reported to congress that Hong Kong is no longer autonomous from China, given facts on the ground. The U.S stands with the people of Hong Kong.
China reaction on the U.S calls for UNSC meeting:-
China has called it a matter completely internal to the country. China Mission tweeted - "China categorically rejects the baseless request of the US for a Security Council meeting."
He also called upon the US to stop its "bullying practices and power politics" and
accused the U.S. of being “the trouble maker of the world.”
What the possible action U.S can take against China?
The Trump administration is crafting a range of options to punish China over its tightening grip on Hong Kong, including targeted sanctions, new tariffs, and further restrictions on Chinese companies.
And the U.S definitely soon treat Hong Kong as China. Remove special status and Tariff relaxation from Hong Kong.
STAY tuned!
